An original watercolour painting of a female life model, quite a rarity from me, though on the strength of this I may try to do some more in the future. The colours are bright and strong, without losing the form that underpins it all. It edges closer to abstraction or exaggeration than much of my work, but without becoming a mess or a compromise. I really like the red and green tones on the skin and how they work together, contrasting with the deep blue of the surface she's leaning on. Painted on textured watercolour paper (300gsm) in May 2006, the paper currently measures 300mm x 230mm (11.8" x 9.3") but could be cropped down to 250mm x 190mm (9.8" x 7.5") if desired. Shipped flat in protective packaging, this would look beautiful framed. Watercolour on watercolour paper, 30cm x 23cm (11.8" x 9.3")
