What Is Japa Mala?

A string of 108 beads called Mala, used to count mantras with one bead as the peak bead called “SUMERU” Mala is a instrument used to keep your mind on the meditation practice. There are different kinds of mala, and each kind of mala has certain effects and properties which delicately influence the unconscious mind of the practitioner.

How To Use Japa Mala?

First hold the mala in your right hand and use your thumb to “count” each mantra by moving the bead during the recitation and then calmly pushing the bead away on conclusion and moving to the subsequently bead. The index finger is extended and should not touch the mala. The large meru (peak) bead should not be counted or touched by the thumb and is used as a starting and ending point,continue until you have done 108 repetitions.

There are two Technique to use Mala:-

In the first technique, the mala is lynching , linking the thumb and the ring finger. The middle , second finger is used to revolve the mala by one bead towards oneself with each duplication of the mantra.

In the second technique, the mala is lynching on the middle finger, with the thumb used to spin the mala by single bead towards oneself with each duplication of the mantra,the index finger is not at all used to contact the mala.When mala is not in use, store in a clean and preferably sacred space.

Why to use Japa Mala?

Meditation can be fairly a complicated practice because the mind is like a mischievous child,by its nature, the mind tends to stroll off during the meditation perform. If ones power is low at the time of meditation, falling sleeping can consequence. If the power force is too high, desire and interruption become the barriers. At such period, the mala provides the much needed anchor.
