Colorful mola half-boots - Colombian hand made

Mola is the Kuna Indian word for blouse, but the term mola has come to mean the elaborate embroidered panels that make up the front and back of a Kuna woman's blouse. The Kuna Indians are the native people who live on small coral islands in the San Blas Archipelago along the Atlantic coast of Panama and Colombia. Molas are collected as folk art and can be viewed at some of the finest museums in the world.
Mola, elaborated by Kuna women, is superposed application of fabrics of different colors that are cut and sewed, forming beautiful geometric, zoomorphic and tribal symbols with cultural and religious meaning. The design and workmanship of the unique needlework panels have changed from generation to generation during their approximate 100-year history. Among the molas currently being made, however, there is a tendency to reproduce many of the styles and techniques of the past.
These shoes have a sturdy rubber sole and the inside lining is suede. The exterior fabric is from a mola.
As the molas are always unique, handmade designs made in traditional handcraft, all our mola products as well are unique. Therefore one pair of shoes will never exist in the exact same design and color as another pair of the same or different size. Attention: each shoe of the pair may have different mola image on the exterior.

Size 39 (inner length of shoe is 25,5 cm).
Boots are a bit tight at the arch, if you have high arches or wide feet you might need 1 size bigger.
Height is 21 cm.

Production method

Molas are handmade using a reverse application technique.
Boots are lined with suede and machine-sewn.
Rubber sole attached with an extra sturdy industrial shoe glue.
