Do all jewelry and jewelry components fulfill EU laws and regulations with respect to the use of cadmium, nickel and lead
Yes, according to our suppliers all items offered by Beadshall fulfill the current EU Directive (EG/1907/2006) with regard to the use of nickel, cadmium and lead.
The current EU Directive says that cadmium and lead is not allowed to be used in jewelry and jewelry parts.
Particularly in regard to nickel the EU Directive says that not all items need to be 100 percent nickel free.
The Nickel Directive imposes limits on the amount of nickel that may be released from jewelry and other products intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin.
These limits, known as migration limits, are:
0.5 µg/cm²/week for other products intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin and
0.2 µg/cm²/week for post assemblies which are inserted into pierced ears and other pierced parts of the human body.
Especially for people with allergies it can be missleading to declare goods as nickel free. For that reason and according to the law I don't use this specification in my product descriptions.
