'Elizabeth Clock' made of Ostrich Eggshell - Imagikos WorkshopA marvelous wall clock made of half an ostrich egg shell. The main motif is a beautiful French Renaissance ornament engraved on the sides of the clock. The dial is covered with a delicate, soft dark purple cloth. The stylized golden hands move along the passage of time, indicated by Roman numerals. The clock is run by the quartz mechanism, powered by a single AA battery. This amazing piece of art is ideal for stylish interiors and matches perfectly with antique furniture.

What exactly are the ostrich egg sculptures? Ostrich egg sculptures are very beautiful and unique works of art. Patterns are hand-sculpted on the surface of the empty egg shell using variety of tools. Due to a very delicate material, all works have to be done by hand, so the process of completing the egg sculpture may take even up to a month! (Depending on the pattern complexity). Exceptional sculptures made at IMAGIKOS workshop also carry useful functions, like jewelry boxes, lamps or clocks. Are the sculpted eggs really genuine handmade artworks? Yes! All artistic works at our workshop are done by hand. Along with your purchased item, you will receive a signed certificate, confirming the authenticity of product. Besides, once you see the product with your own eyes, you will know it’s no machine work! Are the pictures on the website real egg sculptures photographs? Yes! All the images are the pictures of the real, completed products. Will the sculpture I’m buying look exactly the same as on pictures? It may happen that you will receive the very same item, as photographed, but please keep in mind, that as each sculpture is made by hand, so slight differences in patterns may occur (in most cases indistinguishable from the sample on pictures). The general look and primary graphic motives will be the same. Also, please keep in mind that not every egg is the same size. There are approx. +/- 1cm differences possible on each dimension. Why are the egg sculptures expensive? All items are made by hand and they require a long process of production. This is not a mechanical copy of a master. You always receive a one-of-a-kind unique sculpted item, created 100% by hand, which is confirmed by a signed certificate. Do egg sculptures require special handing or exposition conditions? The structure and durability of an ostrich egg sculpture can be compared to delicate china. They are quite hard and pleasantly smooth in touch. You don’t have to worry that it will break during normal use or moving from one place to another. However, if you drop it or apply stronger pressure on it, the egg structure will break. One also need to keep in mind that the sculptures are relatively light so they should be placed away from the reach of small children, home animals or where they could be accidentally knocked off. They also should not be exposed to direct sunlight for a longer period of time, as it may result in color changes. Sculptures should not be kept in temperatures below 5 C (~40 F), or exposed to fast changing temperatures as they may break in result. How to clean the egg sculptures? Egg sculptures are natural products. They do not require any special handling, except usual dusting using delicate dust-brush. If the egg sculpture gets dirty and requires wet cleaning, please use clean cloth and soapy water only. Do not submerge in water. Do not use any detergent. Do not use bleach! While cleaning, handle the sculpture with care and do not apply too much pressure on the shell. I need the egg sculpture as an exclusive personal gift. Is personalization possible? Yes, in some designs of jewelry boxes or lamps a limited personalization is possible (e.g. stylized initials of bride and groom or event date) at additional charge. Customized products with require more time to complete (a new design project is needed), so please allow 4-8 weeks to finalize. If you require such service, please write to us using our contact page and specify which product you would like to personalize. I have my own idea for an egg sculpture. Can you create an egg for me? Generally, yes. You will have to contact us first (via contact page) and we will ask you to submit the proposed pattern. We will then reply to you within 7 days and tell you if it’s possible to sculpt on an egg and what the price will be. |
