Yes, I am smitten!
This necklace has a sterling silver rose pendant suspended from a delicate sterling silver chain.
The rose has four layers of ‘petals’ – each created from an organic cup-like shape, one nested inside the other.
To create the rose I start with circles of varying sizes cut from sterling silver. The circles are then beaten with a variety of hammers to build up an organic texture on the metal and to make the edges uneven. The circles are finally domed and then placed on a handmade sterling silver headpin, which is coiled around and soldered to form an organic-looking connection to hang from the chain.
The rose has been tumbled to create a sparkly finish, but the inside of the cups retains a small amount of white silver oxide to add to the organic, textured look.
The necklace is approximately 43cm (17”) in length. The rose is approximately 1.2cm (0.45”) in diameter and 0.5cm (0.17”) deep.
I can generally change the length of this necklace – just ask.
