Coffee for 6 - Vintage Pagoda by Marumi (60's) - Miss T Vintage BazaarAltough tea was introduced in England by Portuguese Queen Catherine of Braganza (1638–1705), queen consort to King Charles II of England, in Portugal coffee is everywhere and it we can´t live without it! Coffee is the right pretext to meet with someone, to gather with friends. This lovely set for 6, is perfect to serve your guests. It has beautiful japanese landscape with a pagoda, accented by a touch of gold. Beautiful! Impecable, free of chips and cracks. Made in Japan, in the Sixties. It has the Marumi Japan ram logo on the bottom of both the cup and the saucer. Lithophane (French: lithophanie): Porcelain impressed with figures which are made distinct by transmitted light, as in a lamp shade or when hung in a window; it is an etched or molded artwork in thin very translucent porcelain that can only be seen clearly when back lit with a light source. It is a design or scene in intaglio that appears "en grisaille" (in gray) tones. Popular in Europe in the mid-19th Century That´s why you can see the the image of a beautiful Geisha in the bottom of the cup!
