This mah jong bracelet has three bone tiles and red agate beads (large smooth oval agate, faceted medium and small agates) with a rodium toggle. It measures about 8 inches (about 20 cm) long. Red is an auspicious color!

Mah Jong is a table came, similiar to rummy, that was invented in China during the late 1800's. It's popularity spread to the rest of world around the 1920's.

Mah Jong means "the game of the sparrows" or "sparrow tiles." One of the many rituals of the game is the "twittering of the sparrows," as the tiles are placed face down on the table and shuffled at the beginning of each game.
