ABOUT "MITHRIL":

MITHRIL is a fictional precious metal invented by Tolkien which appears in his writings, including the Lord of the Ring trilogy. Mithril is silvery in color and stronger than steel but very lightweight. Mithril was found only in Khazad-dûm (also called Moria) in Middle-earth, where the Dwarves mined it. In other writings, Tolkien states it was also found in Numenor. Mithril in Sindarin, Tolkien's elven language, means "grey glitter". Mithril did not tarnish and was considered more precious than gold. It was extremely rare in Middle Earth.
