Artprint from an original watercolor painting, Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, 84 x 98 cm, 1994. The print is on a 1/2 inch PVC-board with let in holes on the backside for immidiate hanging.

B & G is a pharmacy on Hollywood Boulevard at the corner of Normandie. On my way to Barnsdall Art Park traffic slowed down because an old man just needed more time to cross the street. While I was waiting I saw the bleached out billboard on top of the pharmacy. The overhead cables, streetlights, trafficlights and the bars under the billboard fascinated me. The strong vertical lines were in contrast to the other soft lines which divided the sky in geometric forms. Immidiately I grabbed my camera to catch this point of view. Later while I was painting I added a few more people, for instance the person in the front right. He is an artist too, whom I had met a few days earlier in our gallery. I am having a hard time remembering names, but his, “Anthony Ausgang” I thought was very funny for an American. Ausgang is German and means exit.
During the next earthquake the corner window of B & G’s collapsed. Shortly thereafter part of Hollywood Boulevard collapsed too while they were building the new Metro. For a long time this area was a large scale construction site.
