My pieces are handbags, bustiers and dress vases (based on the 1950’s). THIS MEANS THAT PRICES VARY FROM 40 EUROS TO 170 EUROS. PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST TO AGREE A PRICE AND (INTERNATIONAL) POSTAGE COSTS. They are able to be used as flower vases, desk-tidies, utensil holders, invitation racks, napkin holders, jewellery containers (depending on the imagination of the buyer), or simply Objects d’art, hence the origin of the name Portmanteau (a carrying receptacle). Each of my pieces is personalized by giving them a name that to me reflects its unique style, while its meaning is put across by its individual decoration Within the decorative work, I combine for the texture different media and very often items from Nature herself to give each item fascination and intricate variety. Each item’s individuality is also ensured by it being hand-painted and glazed unconventionally. Inspiration for my work is a life-long passion for the creative arts, having had a long-standing interest and love of art, architecture, fashion, texture, textiles and music. Having travelled extensively throughout my life (I was born and brought up in Central Africa), I often draw upon my memories and experiences gained therefrom, and I allow the visual impulses from those memories and from what I see around me to give full expression to my work.
