A pretty "Crown Trifari" vintage brooch in gold tone metal with a mixture of brushed and shiny finishes. Classic and elegant, this is a brooch that is sure to get compliments! The brooch is fashioned in a modernist style and it´s a strong piece in a wonderful condition. Stamped on the reverse Crown Trifari with copyright symbol. Trifari used a Crown Symbol over the "T" as a type of logo for pieces produced from the 1940's through the 1960's; In the 1970's and 1980's Trifari changed their signature by removing the crown symbol and switching to a slanted text. The copyright symbol was retained to protect the designs). A little bit of history... Founded in the 1910s by Gustavo Trifari and his uncle, since the 1920s, Trifari has been one of the most respected and admired producers of costume jewelry in the United States. In early 1930, Alfred Philippe became the head designer for Trifari. He worked as a designer of fine jewelry for companies such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. In a few years, the company had great success, because of the designs he created during the Art Deco Period. He worked with less expensive materials which gave him the idea to create large flower pins and costume jewelry known as "fruit salad jewelry." The company has designed jewelry that’s been worn by countless high-profile clients, from Mamie Eisenhower to Madonna.

What is "vintage"? Vintage is a generic term for new or second hand garments, costume jewelry and objects made in the XX century, precisely between 1920s and 1980s. Everything that was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique; production after 1980s is called modern or contemporary, not vintage. Most of vintage items are pre-owned and used, but there is a small percentage of pieces found in warehouses (the so called "new-old stock") or forgotten at home in their pristine condition, some of them with their original tags.
