2-Needle Coptic Binding Kit - Büchertiger SuppliesMake your own book similar to the one in the first photo: A Asian style book with a visible binding in two colors with an Asian design on the front cover. The book will have 240 pages (counting both sides of each sheet) and will open completely flat for ease of use. This kit contains everything you will need to make your book: materials, instructions and tools. The contained book boards were covered by hand, and no two of them are exactly alike. The front cover has chinese letters and some motif in red for all boxes. The individual signs, the motif and its placement vary. The back cover is bound in a dark brown linen. For the book's pages the box contains 60 pages of book paper which yield 240 pages for the resulting book. The instructions
So after you used up the materials contained in the box, you can still use the instructions to make more books. To really start right away you just need:

Kann ich längere Stücke als 5m Faden bekommen?
Welchen Faden soll ich für mein Buchbindeprojekt nehmen?
Den ungewachsten 18/3 Faden würde ich hierfür allerdings vorziehen - statt mit Wachs dafür zu sorgen, dass der Faden steif ist und nicht flust wurde der besonders fest aufgewickelt (kalendert). Man kann ihn leicht von Hand wachsen und er lässt sich wunderbar verarbeiten und zieht weniger Staub an als der stark gewachste irische Zwirn. Außerdem ist 18/3 die Standarddicke für alle Bindungen, etwas dünner als 18/4.
Der Österreichische Leinenfaden ist nur bedingt fürs Buchbinden geeignet. Ich habe ihn schon als Heftfaden verkauft gesehen, denke aber er wird über die Jahrzehnte und Jahrhunderte weniger gut halten als der andere Leinenfaden, und deshalb für Profi-Anwendungen weniger geeignet sein. Er fühlt sich weich an und ist unregelmäßiger als die anderen Zwirne. Aber er hat sehr schöne Farben und einen hübschen Glanz. Man kann ihn gut statt Seide für Kapitalbänder verwenden, wenn etwas rustikaleres besser zum Einband passt, etwa bei mittlelalterlichen Repliken. Außerdem ist er gut für asiatische Blockheftungen geeignet sowie für Hefte oder Stickereien auf Ledereinbänden. Ist der Leinenzwirn für Schmuck geeignet?
