Inspired by a tree's silhouette against the sunset, this piece has a background of blended purple, white and black acrylic paint, with a simple black tree standing out against it in acrylic. Layers of paint give the tree texture, almost like the bark of a real tree (see third image). The background colours continue over the sides of the box canvas on which it is painted, to give one continuous block of colour. This canvas measures 30.5cm (12") high by 41cm (16") wide and is 3.5cm (1.5") deep, small enough to be displayed with other paintings, my Coppery Tree painting in particular would look good hung with this piece (see fourth image).
