This piece was painted using a mixture of acrylics, with a touch of copper-coloured poster paint. Black and dark purple blend into flashes of bright colour. On the left, there's a streak of purple. In the middle, the purple acrylic blends into copper, creating warm tones, which are contrasted with the fresh green on the right. Colour shines through the black like a rainbow clawing its way out of darkness.

The box canvas on which this has been painted measures 51cm (20") wide by 41cm (16") high and is 4cm (1.5") deep. It comes ready to hang, with picture wire on the back (see third picture).
