Product description

This handmade sepia/selenium, silver gelatin print belongs to the Ghost Girl tryptych from the series "The Shifting Boundaries and Culture of Manhattan's Lower East Side". "Ghost Girl Gaze" also served as the gallery postcard image for downtown exhibitions and open studio shows. A conspicuous grand scale mid-20th century "endagered mural" which, as a tryptych, spans half of a crumbling city block which was believed to be a 1950's stag cinema. Her metaphysical, hypnotic glare piercing through a panoramic encrypted fairy tale.

"Ghost Girl Gaze" is 8x10" (20.32x25.4cm), including a 1/4" border, on 'museum weight' matte warmtone Forte Hungarian fiber paper. For B&W darkroom insiders, it is a known fact that warmtone Forte Hungarian fiber paper has become extinct, thereby making such prints rare gems for collectors to acquire. Forte warmtone is a silver rich, Baryta saturated, Chlorobromide enlarging paper-and when selenium & sepia toned-reside in an archival class unparalled by other gelatin silver prints. The print is signed, titled and dated on verso, "Ghost Girl Gaze" 2007, Lahary, (Lower East Side, Manhattan) in sepia archival, lightfast ink. Notations on verso are "F2.8 x #4 x 20s" Forte, written in red China marker. Condition Report: Pristine w/one pinhole in the border of each corner.

Awards for this project were made by the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs & the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. The artist also received a Henry Street Settlement/Abrons Art Center Artist-In-Residency award made possible by the Andy Warhol Foundation for this project. The Artist is listed in the ArtFact auction database and has works in both museum and private collections.
