Hi, I'm Katrina, studied communication design, illustrator and now and then calligrapher.
When I first became a mom and had my little sweet baby daughter breastfeeding at my desk, I knew: to illustrate complete books and to handle large extensive projects... I wouldn't be able to do that for the time being. But an existence without a brush and pen, without creating pictures and playing around with colors – I didn't want to imagine that. So I came a little out of necessity to design cards. What a "little luck"! Manageable project, I was able to try out different styles and materials, it gave me a lot of pleasure. The cards, which were initially designed for advertising purposes or for friends, were so well received by the circle of acquaintances that I got the courage and desire to make my cards accessible to more people and thus carry the small moments of happiness out into the world.
One evening my husband held an article about the founding of the German creative platform >Dawanda< under my nose and said read... that would be something for you...
So I built up my little card salon bit by bit, year after year – first at Dawanda and later at Etsy. Actually, always by the way, because the work for publishers and agencies was and still is my daily bread and my family with 3 children my everyday madness which demands corresponding power but is also a wonderful source of inspiration.
My card salon was and is my – I would say – > pleasure piece< from the heart.
The direct and very personal contact with my customers is nice. When Dawanda was dissolved, I had collected over 1400 great reviews and sent several thousand letters or small packages. First of all, I pulled the brakes and my account on Etsy, which I had already created in 2013, was only gradually to fill with life.
Here we are now in 2021 and I am happy to share my creations with you. My products should delight and radiate the affection that is in it. It's nice to think that this joy might still wander... with post or folded cards, over stationery, which then continues on the journey.
With my products, sustainability is important to me. I use natural papers as much as possible and pack with silk or sandwich paper.
My vision is to make the world a bit friendlier. I think illustrations and words can help.
Katrina
