Describe your workshop to us. What does it inspire you?

Our workshop is both a reserve and a place of inspiration partly cut off from the world. In the middle of hundreds of sheets of traditional paper, we can both recharge our batteries and let our creativity run free. It is a cozy retreat of a hermit and at the same time a very open place, where material and inspiration come from Japan, Korea, China, the West Indies and the south of France.


Have you imagined storage systems, diverted objects from their functionality?

The idea was to have both the space and the material in almost unlimited quantities so that we could afford to create whatever objects and accessories we could think of. Initially, we only had a few beads, surgeon's clips, and… lollipop sticks to make the joining loops. As the new material gathered we first collected it in paper boxes before we could afford mobile plastic storage. We also use a lot of sewing material or objects of our own making to work specifically on certain models. But the most useful thing was having a clear reference system right from the start depending on the type, size of model, shape, frame, and pattern used.

DIY, for you, is ...

DIY is what can save us from the best of all worlds. To even create an object from scratch is to realize that this world is ours, that it is made up of what we have done and will become what we will make of it. In these small objects, more than our know-how, we put our sensitivity at first, then passionately, as an extension of ourselves. Our creations are the imprints that our life leaves in the hourglass of time which will inevitably erase them. If anyone notices them in the meantime then maybe it all makes sense. In this world where the paths are more and more marked, standardized, DIY is to shout out this independence, which everyone feels as an urgent need. Because beauty is much more often in winding, steep and painful paths than in straight lines. DIY is both the past and the future: yesterday it was the only possible path, today we take it out of fantasy, and tomorrow out of conscious choice.
