All the exquisite items are 100% handmade with high quality by my grandmother who has 50 years experience in paper-cut and her assistants.
Different from the bold-styled papercuts of northern China – our papercuts are created with gravers instead of scissors. With unique techniques, my grandmother and her assistants can cut more than 50 thin lines within a square centimeter. The lines can be as thin as a hair and they often crisscross one another. Even looking at these works in person, it is not obvious that they are created by cutting paper. When you get close up and see the various layers of XUAN paper you realize that the intricate detail is all done with gravers.
My grandmother and her assistants use small gravers to patiently cut the intricate designs, they will spend about 3~7 days to create an exquisite artwork and some more intricate artworks need even 15 days to complete!
