Why is it such a big problem for customers on this site to pay for their items right away? I just don't get it!!

Even with auto-confirm, I'm still getting a lot of unpaid orders!

DaWanda Admin: please change this "pay in 7 days" policy - it is hurting sellers!! I just can't have orders in limbo, especially at this time of the year.

Hope I don't get them, I am waiting payment from Sept. till now. really annoying those kind of buyer to push purchase button and no payment, waste others time!

I think dawanda should has a way to punish this kind of buyer, maybe from buyers homepage could have a window to show how many times they did purchase but didn't pay, so for others seller could understand soon if this client is honesty or no.

I'm curious about this...does anyone have any theories on why there are so many non-paying "purchases" here? On other sites I sell on, you hear complaints about it, but not like this! And also, on other sites, each shop sets it's own policies on canceling orders. I personally give 5 days for payment in my shop policies...longer than that is just ridiculous. I've seen other shops that only give 3. On the other had, I will make lay-away arrangements with a buyer.

Is there really just an inordinately large number of flaky, non-paying people using Dawanda? Or is it something about the way the payment system is set up here?

I think there will always be people changing their minds about a purchase. I think the frustration that is being expressed here is about the lack of control sellers have to cancel an order within their own time limit, once you realise the buyer is not going to pay.

why can't we get an admin's answer or point of view in this thread? its not that flattering for D when all the threads above this one have a last post by an admin..

I'm not sure, but the time frame might have something to do with German law, this site being based in Berlin.
I should think it implies German law ruling all our dealings. And I suppose this might be a case of German / European laws being very different from American ones...

there are other European selling venues that have no such rule of waiting 14 days, nor have i heard of such a law regarding EU E-commerce.
I don't know why Dawanda decided to have that rule now, because it wasn't like that in the beginning.

I wish someone would reply or at least hear us out but its been months and no sign of admin in this thread.

It is interesting to read in the 'Terms and Conditions' under 'Buying' that:

"1. As a buyer, you have a legal obligation to complete a transaction with a seller if you purchase an item. The sale contract is formed when you click on the „Buy“ button in your shopping basket. After the purchase you will receive a confirmation email. You are obligated to complete the transaction with the seller within 7 days after confirmation of your purchase by the seller."

So, to be fair to sellers we should be able to cancel the non-paid order on the eighth day, and send a payment reminder on the sixth day or earlier - prior to that deadline. If buyer has a problem they can let the seller know and you can hold on for them.

There is a HUGE problem with unpaid orders on DaWanda, we all know it and so does Admin, they just don't know what to do about it.

I do not give anyone 7 days to pay for an item, not on this site and not anywhere else that I sell. My terms are pretty clear (in 3 languages) yet I still get customers making a purchase order and then asking to pay via bank transfer - or making a purchase order to pay with voucher without even having the voucher code.

It's like the buyers here have absolutely no respect for the sellers.

Hi guys,

So, here's two cents from us in HQ:

Firstly, we know how annoying it is to have buyers place orders in your shop who do not pay for them. We're really sorry about that, and we want to do everything we can to help. We investigate all patterns of non-payment on the website, and we take decisive action against offenders.

Regarding the issue of the time allowed for buyers to make payment, and the fact that you have to send a payment reminder - we honestly believe that this can be a benefit in a lot of cases. We gets lots of orders where the buyer eventually pays after they've been sent a reminder - sometimes life gets in the way, and people forget about their purchases, so a reminder is like one more chance to make good on your promise to pay.

We also recently introduced an 'Automatic Confirmation' option, so that buyers can have instant access to a seller's payment info as soon as they make a purchase, which helps to speed up the process.

Having said that, we are of course taking everything that you're saying into account. We constantly monitor the systems we have in place on DaWanda to make sure that they're still benefiting the majority of our users. And so we'll bear in mind your comments, and surely let you know if/when we decide to review our non-payment policy.

Best,

Azra

From all of the posts here and on the German and French forums, surely DaWanda Admin must realize that the payment policy is just not working for most sellers. From my experience, waiting and sending reminders does absolutely no good what so ever ~ it is simply a waste of my time.

On most of my unpaid orders, I never hear from the buyer again!!

I was really hoping that auto-confirm would cut down on the number of non-paids, but so far this has not been the case. This month alone, I have cancelled 3 orders and have another 4 un-paids sitting on my desk. Grand total so far of unpaid orders is 65 - yes, 65 orders!!!
