papercuts 30.08.2008 19:28Maybe some guys come form Etsy, how do you think about the difference between Dawanda and Etsy? Let's share the experience on the two lovely website with each other!
Tizzalicious 31.08.2008 11:57I love both! I love the way the listings are in a random order here, and they don't slip down like on Etsy. And I love being paid in euro's of course, with the low dollar value these days!
I prefer the search function on Etsy though (and how you can search within shops there).
Esthertie 31.08.2008 16:21I would like to sell on Etsy to the only probles is I don't have a credit card cause we had fraud with it and stopted using it. Else i would defenitly open a shop on Etsy.
kittyanydots 01.09.2008 00:35I feel like I'm able to get my work noticed more on dawanda as the listings don't get buried so quickly. I love the template listing here too -- what a great timesaver!
Donnalda 01.09.2008 10:51I agree with you kittyanydots, the template listing tool is wonderful. I also like the stats! We have been begging for stats on etsy forever. I like the forums and chat rooms on etsy, I have learned so much. I am starting to get into the forum habit here, also. So far though I have been reading mostly. The special sale packages are also pretty cool here.
Periay 01.09.2008 20:14I agree with kittyanydots. I can join to forum here. The language doesn't matter for me on Dawanda, I can understand but on etsy not for me. It is to big and the language is so diffucult. (Same English.)I feel more confident here.
pulpsushi 01.09.2008 21:46I definitely prefer the forums on DaWanda than on Etsy, it's just too crazy over there but overall I am very happy using both.
goodbloom 06.09.2008 17:51I like the template listing here on Dawanda! But I feel I get way more traffic in my etsy shop.
risedorfshanna 06.09.2008 18:56Etsy's forums move so fast that by the time you click submit/post you are already on the bottom of the list, no one sees it.
Elksong 08.09.2008 17:37One difference between the two that makes me favor Dawanda is the way posted items in the forums load the picture of the item as well, not just a link you have to go look at, as it is on Etsy...
The difference that I favor with Etsy IS the speed of the forums and the chat rooms...I like the level of activity! It's like the difference between going to a party or maybe a really frenetic board meeting of some sort, or going to a very large, echoey library...:)
I can appreciate both, tho!
BellaSapone 09.09.2008 11:54The pace on Etsy is super fast, listings get buried quickly. Can't add much else as I'm new & still finding my way around.
HalfanAcre 09.09.2008 22:45I prefer the forums on Etsy to here - they are really fast and you get responses seconds after! on Dawanda it can by hours if not days!
i'm a fast thinker and typer and want that high level of interaction.I love the template feature for uploading similar items here - Etsy doesn't have it and that drives me mad as I do the same items but in different colour ways .......
Elksong 10.09.2008 08:15HalfanAcre, I hear you! I like the "instant gratification" of the Etsy forums, but I love the..elegance..here on dawanda!
Tizzalicious 10.09.2008 09:10Elksong, yessss, I like that about the forums too. It makes threads about items so much more fun and easier to use!
lasidi 13.10.2008 12:59I love both sites!! And I am so happy to have discovered both! As a european I prefer to sell in euros, as I dont have to figure out the exchange rate or worrie about it changing tooo much! The template on dawanda is great, but it does take me longer to list my items that etsy cause of all the languages.. but I guess more people can get to them, so thats great! I do like the chat on etsy, just for every now and then.. and I love that I can actually have a posibility to be on the front pages of the categories on Dawanda every now and then!
:) I guess each one has its little pros..
lachrystelle 18.10.2008 11:19I like dawanda because it's free and easier to buy stuff from european people, since shipping can be high from the us sometimes, I like to get paid in euro's, I was always a bit dissapoined of the what was left when they convert the dollar to euro's. Though that I liked the forum on etsy better because it was more active. - as well you can find threads back where you've have posted in. They should have something like that on dawanda too!
FeeABastille 30.11.2008 19:59Hello,
I love both sites! I am always more attracted to products I see on the front page of Etsy. It looks like the photos are better? Don't you think so?
I buy supplies on Etsy and try to sell my jewelry on dawanda!
But so far, nothing!
Good luck to everyone.
