kittyanydots 28.10.2008 21:44if you aren't familiar with twitter: "Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length." (quote from wiki)
here is twitter: http://twitter.com/ here is help on how to use it: http://help.twitter.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=26
here is mine: http://twitter.com/kittyanydots --notice i have links to my shops in my twitter profile. :)
if you've ever used http://search.twitter.com, you might have noticed the "trending topics" and "nifty queries" boxes on the right. one of the "nifty queries" is #haiku. people write a haiku and add #haiku to the end. here is what you'll see when you search #haiku:
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23haiku i have posted some haiku as they are fun and perhaps will get my twitter noticed, and thus my dawanda shop by non-crafters.this got me to thinking, what about adding #dawanda to the end of each post we make about our shop products? if enough people used it and searched for it, perhaps it would turn up on "trending topics" and "nifty queries" and perhaps attract twitters who might not otherwise find us or our products.
i am thinking that a key marketing strategy is how to reach other people besides other dawanda sellers. i love being in a supportive community and being fans of each other's work, but anything we can do to appeal to buyers who are not fellow crafters or have not discovered dawanda may open up sales. :)
care to join me in my experiment? tweet something in your shop, another person's dawanda shop, a treasury and add #dawanda to the end of it! :)
kittyanydots 28.10.2008 22:18note: i am also trying this in the other shop across the pond and there is a bit of confusion, but a twitter tool developer has contacted me about the use of the # hashtag; hopefully he can help and clear up any confusion.
in the meantime, if you haven't signed up on twitter, it's a fun, easy way to market your shop :) http://twitter.com/
AnitasBags 29.10.2008 01:35i already heard about twitter, but actually haven't figured out yet how it works...
Sounds interesting, I really have to take a couple of hours to really understand how to use it as a promotion tool!
pulpsushi 29.10.2008 01:55I absolutely love Twitter! I should use it to promote DaWanda more too. Thanks for reminding me Kitty! :)
dunibagz 29.10.2008 08:51Twitter seems to be really popular. I haven't tried it yet, but most blogs I come across seem to have it. I'll take a closer look at it as soon as I find the time!
Kitty_Ballistic 29.10.2008 22:00I am going to join in with this experiment - it's just taking me a while to get used to Twitter. :-)
Bizmo 01.11.2008 23:49here is mine, joined a little over a week ago and try to post something a couple times a day.....
http://twitter.com/EZMOWI'll join in to follow feloow DaWandans..........
kittyanydots 08.11.2008 02:31thanks everyone! :)
more about using #dawanda:
it gives context to your post and can save characters too (since you are limited to 140 for each post). i notice some sellers promoting their items, like new knitted cap: [link]
but that doesn't give context as to where the shop is unless it's mentioned.with the link, this example post might be a bit too long:
just listed cute grey cat plushie in my dawanda shop; perfect christmas gift! [link]#dawanda can save you characters and give context in this example:
just listed cute grey cat plushie; perfect christmas gift! [link] #dawanda

http://www.twitter.com/lecoccoleHave a wonderful Xmas!
kikidi 04.01.2009 14:21I literally just signed up in twitter, and then came to the forum to search any topic on twitter and found this. I have heard more positive things about it, so I decided to sign up, although I don't fully understand it yet.
You can follow me http://twitter.com/kikidiloves
Tizzalicious 08.01.2009 20:13I love that idea :) So basically it would just be a Tweet with anything DaWanda related, and afterwards I type #DaWanda?
Like:
I just sold this brooch on DaWanda! #DaWanda
Or am I getting it completely wrong?

bluewhitejewelrywear 17.01.2009 09:04I have twitter:
limecat 22.01.2009 11:01Twitter confuses the heck out of me. I just did a search for Dawanda and clicked on a link. You just get a load of random comments about stuff you don't understand. Like one half of several conversations. Nothing flows. I don't get the appeal.
