How new is DaWanda?
Where else do you sell?
How do you promote & get the word out?
How much time do you spend here? I dont have a lot of time to spend & dont want to waste my time for sure, do you feel it's growing or will get stale?
I love int'l & sell a lot to Canada, Australia...
How is everyone elses experience?

I'm a bit concerned as I'm typing this that no one is going to see it?? :) Fill me in!!
hugs,
Tammara

I sell mostly to Germany, and to people that are buyers only :)

I don't spend too much time here. I add a couple of items every day, and I spend some time in the forums, but as they are slow, it doesn't take too long!

I also sell on Etsy and on my website :)

I sell mainly on Etsy at the moment but I read a post from someone there who said she was doing much better here. So far, I've sold nothing here yet on Etsy I'm doing quite well. I sometimes wonder if it's a cultural thing. I sell mainly to the US so maybe Europeans don't like my things. I really don't know.

Like Tizza;icious I also sell mostly to Germany and people that are buyes only. I've sold a few times to people in USA.
I also sell at my website, but only in The Netherlands.
Sometimes I think it's difficult to promote your shop and stuff beecause I don't know where.

The English interface of DaWanda is the newest, but I don't know exactly when they launched.

My customers here are mainly Europeans from Germany, France, Austria, UK and Italy. I also list my items in French and German, which is great exposure and I have been lucky enough to be featured in several of the gift guides/hot trends area.

I have shops on other sites, but I prefer DaWanda - a much better site, great admins - Elizabeth and Lisa are awesome!!, easier to list, large customer base (population of Europe is approx 250 million people) I think DaWanda will continue to grow, I don't forsee any staleness - customers are joining everyday!!

I do absolutely NO promotion at all. I don't blog and I hardly ever post in the forums. I just list my items and if someone likes my work they will buy it. My customers are buyers only, except in my new supply shop here, they are other DaWanda artists buying supplies.

Overall, my experience here has been very positive and my French and German language skills have improved greatly!!

.......... so that's my story ..... just keep at it and teach yourself French and German ........

Wow! Thanks BeauMonde. Amazing that you don't do any promotion. I haven't done much here either but if I don't start sending comments etc to people, then I don't get any views. You could say it's my products but I am selling on Etsy and have been from day 1.

I do like this site and I love the fact it's European, it makes it really interesting.

Sellers can be buyers too !

I don't really sell much from here or Etsy but that is mostly to do with lack of promotion as everything directs to my website first & foremost as I see it as my base but from Dawanda & Etsy I've had opportunities to attend craft events, wholesale & blog features etc & I just think the extra places you are the better your google rankings are & more exposure, it really depends on what you want from it all but I think generally the rule of thumb that the more you put in the more you get holds true.

Hi MakaLeWakan,
It's definitely not your products!! Your art is amazing and beautiful, it's just about finding your niche market on a new site. It took me a couple of months to get noticed here on DaWanda, but now things are rolling right along. The no promotion thing does amaze people, but I would rather spend my time creating ....... and if I do have any extra time in my day, I might do something crazy, like clean the house :)
cheers,
Rona - Beau Monde

Hi there,

I don't promote at this point. I do have a shop on Etsy and I am trying to reach out to a broader base so I have started to list on Dawanda. I'll see where this road takes me!

I'm new to Dawanda and I think I'm going to like it here :-) I like the International feel of this site. I mostly sell at Etsy and from my own online boutique. A lot of my orders come from Canada, Australia, France and England and I really enjoy shipping my handmade products to other countries.
I do a small amount of promoting by blogging and joining in on forum discussions on occasion.

OvertheTop

I just joined, no sales yet. I do sell to Europe from my Etsy shop *waves to the Etsyians* but I'd like to do more. I'm only in the English section as I have very little German or French. I think that many of my pieces are too "Bohemian" for everyday, so I'm hoping to find a niche here. :)

It's really important to promote outside of DaWanda too I think. I get a lot of customers (both here and on Etsy) who are new to the site, so they might have found me somewhere else!

AnitasBags

Out of 25 sales only one has been to a seller. So there's plenty of "only buyers" on Dawanda, and most have been people that joined just the day they bought.
We all just have to do our best to promote Dawanda and our shops.
Just as you promote you Etsy shops, you have to promote your Dawanda shop as well...

Nice thread-- also great to hear some people do not promote aggressively.... Thus I am not alone. Yahoo!

No not just sellers...

I ended up on here totally by accident after a google search for a christmas present I am looking for. I run a website for wahms [work at home mothers] to sell their crafts in our free shops....

BUT I used to make and sell slings and diva cups and other bits n bobs... gosh seems like a life time ago.

I do recognise some names here though which is nice.

Hi! I'm new here, and I'm French (from Canada) and my husband is Austrian (German speaker), and because I only list in English on other websites, I'm just wondering about the amount of work it is to translate every single listing into French and German, that's just so much work.

For those that list in german and/or french (DH and I also speak some Spanish), is it really worth it, and I've read that some folks just put their english listings into the French and German Dawanda platforms because a lot of germans and french speak enough english to understand.

I somehow cannot see myself translating every single listing :(

Never mind... I found the answer to my questions about translating listings, etc, in another section of this forum. Sorry for the trouble!

LunatigerCrafts

Does the translator automatically translate for you???

Hi Lunatiger,

translator sometimes produces odd sentences, sometimes misleading
better have someone who doublechecks...

I have mostly sales from Germany, and I do list my items in German. I could try to persuade my French husband to translate, but it is quite a lot of work and I have no idea if the French interface is busy enough to justify it. In general I'd say that it's not a good idea to use babelfish internet translations. It simply doesn't look professional and as a buyer I find it off putting.
