You're looking at this thinking - "OK, who's this gal then?" I should tell yer really ;)

Firstly - hello!
My name is Nicola Marks and I am a self-taught jewellery maker, I'm English born and bred but now I live in the bustling city of Stuttgart, Germany.

I first got into jewellery making at the age of eleven - when beads were far too expensive and hard to come by (hallelujah internet) it was a different world back then. then a few few years later, when I was at a boat festival on the British Canals, i came across a narrowboat that had handmade jewellery for sale, as a curious teenager there were questions after questions, and with tips, techniques - and information for suppliers, my beading world and creativitity took a much more secure route.

I have been beading and making jewellery since then for many years on and off, at times I'd be distracted by other creative influences (music has been a big part in my life), but over the past year, it has come back with a vengence. Initally the problem was before that I never had a creative outlet to share my creations, I was making for no purpose other than the pleasure of being creative, and after a while - there's always a risk that you can run out of supplies (God forbid) and have no money to buy any more.

Luckily some friends and colleagues have been very supportive, and they are always very curious and asking for me to price everything up for them to buy. I'm lucky to have such wonderful people around me who appreciate hand crafted items.

This is why I have joined 'Dawanda' This creative outlet believes in the value of hand crafted items, and I like to support fellow crafty people.

I love the idea when things are created from someones minds eye, they are then made with care and attention to detail - to create unique pieces.

This is also what I aspire in my own creations.
