ShaynaMaidel's Profile

About me

Here's a bunch of info about Shayna Maidel, including shipping and return policies. If something seems unclear by all means convo/email me. After all the important stuff, I have a couple random facts about me. I also have some a link to my blog where I show my results of my products and random musings.

SHIPPING:
For domestic orders, delivery confirmation will be included in your shipping rate. It's the only way I can really make sure that the product gets to you. Also, if you'd like to insure an order or insure it instead of delivery confirmation just let me know so I can revise the invoice.

RETURN POLICY:
Return policy: I don't have a one size fits all return policy. I take any situation on a case by case basis. If an issue ever arises and you are unhappy, I will try and rectify it. Communication is key, message me and I will get back to you straightaway. To ensure that my products get to you, I will be doing a delivery confirmation that way there will be a tracking number and all of that.

ABOUT THE SHOP OWNER:
I've always been a bit of a lip balm fanatic, but I've always been kind of wary about what is in commercial products and what has gone into the products I use and put on my body. I decided I want to do this myself.

I've always been a fan of lip plumping products like City Lips, Too Faced Lip Injection and DuWop Lip Venom. I wanted to make products like these that are more diy, handmade and affordable. Some of those products sell for around $20, fuhgettaboutit! From that idea came research and experimentation.

Hmmm.. What else.. what else? I live in MA in the US. I am relocating to VT. I love animals, hate animal cruelty and in the future I would like to give some money from the products I sell to local animal shelters.

FAQ:
Q: So what's a Shayna Maidel anyhow?

A: The name of the company, Shayna Maidel, comes from an endearing Yiddish term which means pretty or lovely girl.

Q: How is Shayna Maidel pronounced?

A: Shayna Maidel is a Yiddish term that is pronounced, "shay-nah may-dah-lah," it means pretty girl and is often said endearingly. I wanted to share a bit of my heritage with others.

Q - So how do these lip plumpers work and what's up with these ingredients?

A - Cinnamon leaf oil helps to plump your lips via a hot tingly sensation. Depending how much is used it can feel like a slight tingle or like WOOSH HOT DAMN! The swelling of the lips occurs because it is a mucus membrane irritant. Lips are mucus membranes. Your lips become redder/pinker because all the blood rushes to your lips when this is applied. The lip balms and glosses were designed to mimic the feeling of lip plumpers like DuWop Lip Venom. If you've never used plumpers like DuWop Lip Venom, you're probably not familiar with the hot rush sensation that my lip gloss will provide. It would be good to get a try me size, just to see how a low concentration would feel and a high concentration would feel and which effect you like best. To be the safe side, I would tell people with sensitive skin to avoid this product or ask for the weakest concentration as possible. Do not use on cut or broken skin.

Cinnamon leaf oil, that is extracted from the leaf, is non-toxic. Caution must be exercised since the cinnamaldehyde and eugenol contained in the oil could cause irritation, especially to the mucus membranes, so this oil should be used with care. Due to the emmenagogue action of the oil, it should be avoided in pregnancy.

Q - And, what in the heck is stevia?
A - Stevia is of the species Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni and is commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf, or simply stevia. It is widely grown for its sweet leaves. I use stevia instead of other lip balm sweeteners like saccharin or sugar because I think it's pretty cool that it is an herb, and it's calorie-free! Some types of stevia are even 300x sweeter than sugar.

Additionally, I am *always* online. I'm unabashedly addicted. If you ever want to message me about anything, I will always get back to you... Even if the convo is nutty! In fact, I welcome nuttiness.
