About me
About a year ago I began sourcing handmade accessories from Southern Morocco. With the help of Non-Government Organisations offering assistance to mainly village based producers working from their homes, I work with producers to export their products and so expand their market and improve livelihoods. My business is based on Fair Trade principles and I work closely with producers on design and quality control. My producers are all very skilled artisans with many years experience in their craft. All handwoven items are made by Abdelaati El Nejjar in a small workshop attached to his house. He weaves all the scarves and blankets on a loom he has built himself. The leather belts and handbags are made in two small workshops near Marrakech. All items are made individually, cutting by hand and then some machine stitching. The sterling silver jewellery is made by Ahmed El Guerche using traditional Tuareg designs. He works from his house in the medina of Tiznit in Southern Morocco. At the time of ordering my products I pay the artisans %50 of the cost so they are able to buy raw materials without risk. I pay the other 50% on collection so the artisan do not have to wait for the products to be sold to get their money.
