About me
The artist
Born in 1969 in a village directly to the Berlin Wall.
At a young age he already experimented with clay, wood and painting abstract objects, often to the upsetting of his parents who believed they have a rather strange child, than thinking of an existing talent.
Due to the non-existence of any acknowledgement, he sought out places where he could explore himself without the brutal criticism and developed his skills and discovered music as a very important part in his life.
He joined the music college at the age of 13 and took the courses for percussion instruments, classical music and modern music sciences.
High school wasn’t abandoned and he went to both at the same time, high school in the mornings, Music College in the evenings and even continued when entering college and beginning to study optics and optometry.
During this time he experimented largely with furniture design and steel became added to his favourite materials to work with. The fascination of the light, its rays, colours, warmth and illuminative effects have led to numerous designs of lightning objects and installations.
His paintings manifested an easy to identify style and varied from straightforward geometric objects in perspective views to the wild combination of colours and modelling with paint to create effects showing different pictures when seen from different angles.
Most works have been commissioned and included mostly the interior design of apartments and buildings and only very few are still to be seen today.
Due to living in a country ruled by a dictatorship, he wasn’t able to exhibit his art and often had to work occulted and only for people he could trust. Censorship prohibited his kind of art, as it was also showing his view of politics and personal freedom in a dictatorship.
Needless to mention that he had issues with the secret service…
At the age of 20 he escaped from the communist dictatorship and arrived after a 3-day journey in the former Western Germany and started a new life.
Art was secondary during the first years, but came back to the surface when he worked in the property and building industry with his own business, which aim it was to restore old and historic buildings.
The years 1996 and 1997 changed life drastically and he left to live in New Zealand.
Here he could find the peace and space to explore and to express. Nature at its fullest, and as pure as it comes; no added flavours, rough and unforgiving.
He started to paint again and more on canvas, using mostly acrylic colours.
Today, living in Spain, his paintings shows often the influence of light and sun, warmth and joy. His style is more manifested and often easy to identify.
Exhibitions have shown most of his current artwork and earned him high acknowledgement and great interest by numerous clients, who always look forward to new additions of their private galleries.
