About me

Hi,
I'm averilpam, I live in the north west of England.
I have one daughter who lives in the U.S.A with her husband and children.
I often use my annual visit to look around for beads, fabrics, and other materials to use in my crafts.

I've been interested in arts and crafts all my life. My mother taught me to sew as a child and I started to make my own clothes - something I just don't do any more!
I spent a year at art college in Liverpool, studying fine art and later tried my hand at photography. I had a darkroom for a while, but found the process very difficult and was never very happy with my results. Now with a digital camera and Photoshop, I love it more than I ever did.

When I later had an opportunity to spin and weave I found my true passion in fibre and textiles. Just this last year I have also started to make jewellery.

In my shop you will find scarves, bags and jewellery.

My scarves are made with many different fibres. I use my homespun fibres - mainly wool but also mohair, silk, alpaca and mixtures of these along with interesting yarns I've found.

My bags are sewn from various fabrics, occasionally using my handwoven fabric and I love to use silk and linen. I also use fabric I've created by felting together wool fleece with raw silk, yarns and scraps of fabric, ribbon, lace etc. I use this to make brooches also.

Most of my jewellery is made with glass beads, I also use beads and buttons to decorate fabric flower brooches.
I like to recycle, and buy beads and buttons in charity shops etc.

Many of the fabrics I use have had a previous life as clothing!

I am always interested to meet other craftspeople, and share ideas and skills, and always welcome comments on my wares.

I understand the problem and I don't want to offend you. When I opened my first online store I did a bit the same. But a few weeks later I didn’t understand that I didn’t sell anything. I started reading about pricing. One day I found an article about pricing and it said that to low prices will have the same effect as to high prices, you won’t sell because buyers will think there has to be a hick (low quality). The authors gave the advice to try out different pricing to find the right one. As I was already really cheap I raised my prices (and I started selling a few days later (after 2 month without any sold!!!). When I see your cute brooches for 3.50 I’m looking for a default. I would try out at least 9.90 Euros for your brooches and upload another photo of the back – buyers love to see how to fix brooches. Hope you don’t mind my advises and I wish you a lot of clients!
