About me
Art and Mathematics have been an integral part of my life since I can remember myself, warring with each other for my leisure time and occupation. In the last two decades, Mathematics has been the one to take forward stage as I worked as a Mathematics Teaching Instructor. Despite this, Art and my artistic side have always appeared in the work I did, and as a major part of the mathematical assignments I wrote.
Seven years ago, my son Elai returned art to my life. He was born diagnosed with CP (Cerebral Palsy). With the discovery of this, I resigned from the Ministry of Education in order to dedicate all available time to him, and allow him to fulfill as much of his potential, and to become as independent as possible. As time passed, I returned to art as a hobby, and over time the hobby turned into a business.
Thus, the idea of Gaialai was born, and has slowly taken form.
The idea of expanding from what was until this time a personal creation company based only in Israel, with some small sales to the United States, Canada and South Africa, was raised at the beginning of 2006 by friends and family, who saw together with myself, a future in expanding the market for the art and design I have been creating, to other markets such as Europe and the Far East.
During February of 2007 Gaialai attended Bijorhca, the largest and most famous European art & design show, which takes place bi-annually in Paris, France. Many famous Worldwide jewelry companies started out there, and many others expanded from local based to global.
Gaialai designs are based on a mixture of mathematical ideas, Ethnic styles, Nature and Glamorous combinations. I create my designs using Swarovsky, Crystal, Glass(hand created) beads, semi-precious stones, Natural elements such as shells and ceramics, all combined with gold-filled, silver and nylon based thread, metal wire, hand knitted - ending up with combinations that prove my jewelry is stylish and glamorous. The unique look of my jewelry is in the combination between the knitting method - the Ethnic side, and the special beads - the glamorous and modern side.
Gaialai has added fused glass and Lampwork beads to it’s extensive collection of items created. The Lampwork and other creations can be found by visiting My website: www.gaialai.com and on Etsy - www.gaialai.etsy.com and Artfire - www.gaialai.artfire.com
For the lasy year I see my self mostly as a Glass Artist (I’m a SRA member: SRA membership number: #G67)- I’m totaly addicted to it !!! I combine my lampwork beads with my other love - knitting.
I am also a proud member of the ISRAEL ARTISTS TEAM( ISART TEAM).
I hope you’ll enjoy my Art!!!
Thanks!!!
