Background
In 2005 Biliana Sakalieva and Hristo Voivovod, two young artists, opened a small fashion atelier in a garage in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. A year later their creativity began to bear fruits and the two designers moved into an outwear & accessories fashion boutique of their own to exhibit only unique items. In 2007 the artistic couple launched Mystic Bulgaria (MBG) – a small outwear & accessories fashion label standing for the brand name of the limited edition fashion collections that quickly earned a loyal following of the label in Bulgaria.
Events
Mystic Bulgaria’s first international debut is at Margin London – the trade fair exhibition. MBG collections arouse the immediate interest of both the media and the buyers from different countries. MGB participated also at BGate (Balkan Gate Apparel and Textile Exhibition), Plovdiv’s Night of Museums and Galleries, “Little Black Dress” Sofia.
Goals
The main idea of MBG label is to confront the new philosophy with the needs of the modern man, to put it in other words, the outwear & accessories collections are created to blend the extravagant and non-traditional with the ordinary everyday look. In short, MBG seeks to find the borderline of the extravagant and “the acceptable” and this alone is a challenge. (Bringing two extremes together)
Accessories & Jewellery
The accessories & jewellery range is hand made craftwork in organic leather. Some of the designs of the items require a unique performance technique such as building-in different pieces (samples) of leather together to the making of a finished surface of varied shapes or design. Hand made engraving on leather is another preferred technique. Created with comparatively tiny pieces of leather this range is tailored to blend into the overall design of the product, MBG accessories & jewellery can be even made of waste (recycled) materials in leather shoes and bags production.
One of MBG goals is to prove that leather jewellery may well fit both street and formal fashion as a very appropriate replacement of precious metal jewellery.
