      Description

The ancient art of origami looks surprisingly modern and trendy when you use it for a coloured lampshade. Lisa from Dekotopia is a fan of this technique, and she's sharing the step-by-step instructions with us today.

      Tracing the Pattern

Take a piece of paper and fold it in the middle. Then fold the edges to the center and repeat until you get an accordion shape. The distance between folds should be 2 cm.

Draw the horizontal and diagonal lines from the pattern to the paper, using a ruler and a pencil (so you can erase them later).

      Folding the Paper

Now comes the hard part: folding. Fold the paper with a ruler over the drawn lines.

      Punching Holes

Punch holes at the top of the design, as shown above, and draw a cord through them.

      Finishing the Lampshade

Tighten the cord and tie the ends together. Then proceed to glueing the sides of the lampshade together. Alternatively, you can use a stapler for this step.

Your lampshade is ready to hang!
