Sew a Canvas & Suede Yoga Bag
DescriptionYour yoga mat can't fit in regular bags, yet you still need to carry it around? Claudia from DaWanda has the solution: a beautiful canvas and suede bag that's made just for that and which you can make yourself.
Prepare your materials for this project.
For the body of the bag, you need a piece of canvas measuring 57 x 47 cm and a piece of suede of 27 x 47 cm. You also need a round piece of suede with the diameter of 18 cm, and 80 cm of webbing.
Cut all the materials to size.
Sew Fabric Together
Sew the two pieces for the body of the bag together.
Sewing the Bag Body
Sew along the open edge of the fabric, leaving a ca. 6 cm opening at the top of the canvas.
Attaching the Bottom
Pin the round bottom of the bag in place. Put the strap into place, on the right side of the fabric. Sew firmly all around.
Turn the bag on the right side.
Pinning the Drawstring
Fold the fabric at the top of your bag 1 cm and then 3 cm wide. Iron out the edges for a neat look. Slide the strap in the desired spot under the fold and pin in place.
Sewing the Drawstring
Now sew the top and bottom edges of the drawstring as shown above. Make sure the webbing is sewn firmly.
Place the leather cord in the drawstring. Place cord stoppers on both sides, then knot the ends of the cord.
Your yoga bag is ready!
