      Product description

Underwater Lights - original abstract painting.... - Earth Sky Art

      "Underwater Lights"
      (with Stefania Bounajuti)
      Acrylic on canvas, 16" x 20"

Own an original acrylic painting! This isn't a print or reproduction - it's the real thing.

Stefania and I created this painting through collaborative improvisation. We stayed up late and had a spontaneous painting jam, both of us working on the canvas at the same time, painting with brushes and fingertips and feeding off each other intuitively.

The painting is abstract, suggestive of both the cosmic depths of space, glittering with galaxies and star clusters, and the unknown deeps of the ocean, in which strange sea creatures unfurl in the phosphorescence of ghostly underwater lights. (And the slightest suggestion of tentacles...)

The key tones are prussian blue, ultramarine, deep green and cerulean, with highlights in lemon, leaf and white.

The painting is new and in perfect condition, a medium-sized 16" x 20" on a stretched box-frame canvas. The vivid colours continue coherently onto the sides of the canvas, giving a three-dimensional effect. This looks good, but it's also practical, meaning that the painting is ready-to-hang without a frame. Which saves you hassle and money, and makes it easier to post!

The painting will be shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity. It's signed and dated by both artists on the back of the painting, and includes our initials in the bottom corners.

This painting is taken from the "K~nesis" series, which was created for my and Kristen's first joint exhibition in August 2007. More information about the the show can be found at http://wax-and-wane.org/kh/.

      Postage and payment policy

I prefer PayPal, or bank transfer if you can transfer to a UK account. If you'd like to use direct transfer please message me and I'll send you the relevant details.

Some of my prices are fixed, and that's the lowest I can possibly offer for a certain artwork. Others are more flexible. If a piece catches your eye but the list price is too high, message me and make an offer. I promise not to be offended, and I might say yes!

I'm happy to negotiate sales outside Dawanda if you'd prefer. Send me a message and we'll work something out.

      Shipping:

All paintings are carefully wrapped in protective packaging. Small artworks on paper are pressed between two pieces of stiff card to prevent creasing; larger artworks on paper are rolled and posted in a secure postal tube. Canvases are carefully protected with bubble wrap, with an extra stiff cardboard layer on the outside if required. All artworks are packaged with love, a certificate of authenticity, and a handwritten note.

UK orders are sent by first class post. Special or recorded delivery can be requested if you want to be extra sure it'll arrive safely - I'll let you know the extra cost and you can send it with the rest of your payment.

International orders are all sent recorded delivery. The cost of this is factored into the shipping cost.

If you're based in London and would like to arrange collection in person, feel free to message me! I'll get back to you and we can work out a convenient time and place. My first suggestion will probably be the Pembury Tavern near Hackney Downs station, but if that's difficult for you, let me know and we'll work out somewhere more accessible.
