2007 I started my work as a designer and maker of commeonveut. Meanwhile my brands name changed to "DYAO Studio". DYAO is a play on words with my moms name, which means "pearl" in Vietnamese.
Acctually I come from a small town near the baltic sea in Germany, where it all started in 2007 during scool. The Ripped Upcycling Design was part of my application project for artscool in Berlin. In the very beginning I used to sell on Mauerpark Sundaymarket in Berlin for many years during scooltime. Every weekend I backpacked with my handmade pieces from the Baltic Sea to Berlin and then later moved finally to Berlin.
I presented my Collection and designs on Berlin Fashionweek for many years, as well as taking part on several exhibitions. In 2013 I was nominated for "Smart Technology and New Designs" on the "Designers Open Exhibiton" for upcoming young designers. I worked with selected Boutiques, Concepstores and Showrooms worldwide (Capetown, Vienna, Berlin, Bukarest and Bangkok.
My work has been published in many international fashionmagazines for example "Shustring Magazine, Elegant Magazine, Trendprivemagazine etc...Also pieces of my Ripped Designs are part of the costume in some movies like "Manifesto" with Cate Blanchett and "Girl in the Spider's Web" with Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander.
As an Independent Female Designer I am super proud of my baby.
I have always worked close to my vision and dreams and it was a wild long ride, but when I look back today, I can say I always did it my way.
Every piece is handmade by me since 2007 !!! Its was always all about upcycling and deconstruction of material, even before Fairfashion, Slowfashion became a trend.
The Style is elegant, light, timeless and cool. It has always been inspired by my love to Music (especially Rock Music), Dance and Nature.
During the years I designed costumes for dancers and did stagedesign too in Berlin. Also I did a lot of backpacking back in the days and my love for raw nature was alsways the biggest inspiration for my work.
In my studio there is always music and a lot of plants and its like weaving in the sounds into the fabric, which is my kind of meditation.
